Castellana Caves

The Castellana Caves, also known as the wonders of Apulia, are a fascinating complex of underground caves of karstic origin: they extend for about 3400 metres and reach a maximum depth of 122 metres from the surface.

They were only discovered in 1938 by the speleologist Franco Anelli and reveal marvellous hidden scenarios under the city of Castellana Grotte. Plays of light and shadow illuminate the ancient stalactites and stalagmites of the Castellana Caves to enchant visitors.
